Windows alpha

Install ORB Trader on your Windows PC.

One installer, no administrator rights. It sets up the app, downloads IB Gateway from Interactive Brokers, and runs on your own IBKR account.

The alpha is not code-signed yet, so Windows SmartScreen may say it protected your PC. Choose More info, then Run anyway. Signed builds come with the release.

First run

1. Run the installer. Accept Interactive Brokers’ terms on its IB Gateway page so Setup can download and install the Gateway for you.
2. Enter your IBKR login. ORB Trader opens on its IBKR login window. Enter your username and password, pick Paper or Live, and choose Save and start. Approve the login in IBKR Mobile when your phone asks. The app signs the Gateway in for you.
3. Open the cockpit and unlock. It opens on its unlock screen. Enter your email and press UNLOCK. One trading day comes off your balance.

The alpha starts on your live account. To trade on paper instead, pick Paper in the IBKR login window before you choose Save and start.

The app checks for a newer build and shows an UPDATE link on its unlock screen and in the cockpit. Run the new installer over the old one; your settings and journal stay.

The alpha sends diagnostics to ORB Trader support, so a problem on your PC can be found and fixed. Every few minutes it sends its version, its state with a line on its health, an id for this install, your PC's name and a fingerprint of the email you unlock with (not the address). It sends its own log files and state files, with a list of the programs running for it or using its ports, when a start, a stop or an update fails, when it finds a fault in itself or restarts or repairs part of itself, when support asks for them, or when you choose Send logs to support. The logs can show orders the app placed and your IBKR account number. They never include your IBKR password.
